the land where legend remains...

Come By The Hills

Come by the hills to the land where fancy is free
Stand where the peaks meet the sky and the rocks reach the sea,
Where the rivers run clear and the bracken lies gold in the sun
And cares of tomorrow must wait till this day is done.

Come by the hills to the land where life is a song
And sing while the birds fill the air with their joy all day long,
Where the trees sway in time and even the wind sings in tune,
And cares of tomorrow must wait till this day is done.

Come by the hills to the land where legend remains
Where stories of old stir the heart and my yet come again,
Where the past has been lost and the future is still to be won,
And cares of tomorrow must wait till this day is done.

Sea Fever

Sea Fever

"I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking,
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over."

"I wish I could show you,
When you are lonely or in the darkness,
The Astonishing Light
Of your own Being!"  — Hafiz

the sun is always there

"I know that in everybody's life must come days of depression and discouragement when all things in life seem to lose savour. The sunniest day has its clouds; but one must not forget the sun is there all the time." — L.M. Montgomery
